Calibre - This cartridge, which has been available since 1930, is based on an older black powder cartridge the.22 WCF (Winchester Center Fire). It is outstandingly suited for barrel adapters in combination guns, since it does not place a particularly large stress on the chamber. It is therefore often the maximum caliber that can be used for barrel adapters in older drillings. For hunting, it is still used in high-accuracy repeating rifles. It is popular because of the low damage to meat and pelt when shooting fox or rabbit from a hide. It is also a favorite for use on for capercaillie and similar birds. However, the .22 Hornet is wind-sensitive, which limits the practical shooting distance to a bit less than 100 meters, rather than more. It is ideal for hunting-style shooting matches, because of the low strain on the shooter. In this case, when fired from modern rifles, the .22 Hornet can demonstrate outstanding precision.

Cartridge - A well-proven projectile type still favoured by many today. High to very high energy output in game. Somewhat stronger fragmentation, therefore exit holes are not always present. Very good stopping effect. Frequently used in battues because of the above reasons and because of a certain insensitivity to minor obstacles. With round or pointed projectile tip.
